2020 F-150 XL vs XLT:  Standard Performance

There are a lot of similarities between these two Ford F-150 trim levels and a lot of them are found under the hood.

Both trims are powered by the robust 3.3L V6 engine paired to an automatic 6-speed transmission. This engine can rev up 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque for a seamless drive backed by strength. These trims also come standard with a 4x2 drivetrain, but 4x4 is available for both.

If you're looking for more oomph where it counts, multiple engines are also available for these trim levels:

  • 2.7L EcoBoost® V6: 325 HP / 400 lb-ft of torque
  • 3.5L EcoBoost® V6: 375 HP / 470 lb-ft of torque
  • 5.0L V8: 395 HP / 400 lb-ft of torque

The XLT also has one additional engine available, the remarkable 3.0L Power Stroke Turbo-Diesel V6. With its 250 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque, you'll be able to tow up to 11,500 pounds with a payload of 2,020 pounds, making the XLT the more powerful trim when properly configured.

XL vs XLT: Interiors

More similarities present themselves inside the 2020 F-150 XL and XLT trim levels. These trucks come equipped with comfortable and convenient interiors thanks to cloth upholstery, single-zone manual air conditioning, and a 2.3-inch productivity screen.

As for multimedia, the XL is available with the intuitive SYNC® 3, an infotainment system that lets you connect to the outside world with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, and boasts available voice command for safer driving.

Though available for the XL, this feature is standard on the XLT trim level. In fact, if you're looking for a suite of standard amenities inside your cabin, the XLT has you covered with upgrades like:

  • Ford MyKey® System
  • Power Locking Doors
  • In-Vehicle Wi-Fi
  • Cruise Control

More differences show themselves on the outside of these trims as well. Though both come equipped with a locking tailgate, Daytime Running Lamps, and Halogen Headlamps, the appearance differs slightly between these two trims.

While the XL has black accents on the bumpers and front fascia, the XLT features chrome on these aspects. Both also come with 17-inch wheels, but instead of the standard Silver Steel wheels on the XL, the XLT features Silver-Painted aluminum wheels.

Additionally, the XLT comes standard with fog lamps and is available with a stunning moonroof.
